When people ask me why I became interested in genealogy, I suppose the simplest answer I can give is....my father.

My father was a role model and mentor to me. Although he passed away when I was only 19, he shaped and guided my life through my twenties, thirties and so on and on.

He was a very kind and concerned human being. One who brought warmth and caring to all he knew. From the workers in his textile mill, to the presidents of banks, they came to him for problem solving and friendship.

Though his years were short, his quality of life was long. He lived every day to the fullest and crammed everything he could into it. He attacked his hobbies with the same drive as he did his business career. His feelings for Jewish life and family were strong. He was only 48 when he died, but he died as he would have wanted to.....discussing what movie we were going to see that night.

My own children and grandchildren never knew my father. I did not want his memory to become obscure and so began my genealogical explorations. Never knowing when I began that I would do more than write a family history of my immediate family, my grandchildren can now go back and learn about ten generations of their ancestors on both my maternal and paternal sides.

This is my legacy to my grandchildren. Hopefully, it will be passed down to the future generations and give insight and inspiration to them.
